  1. Thank you all for your wonderful comments! I’m a huge fan of the Boxcar Children, Daniel Pinkwater, Anne of Green Gables, and all the Narnia books. (And of course of my own books — thanks for your kind words, Emily, Caraline, and Grace!) And I’m going to have to read Igraine the Brave and The Fairy Rebel. The ARC winner, chosen on Random.org, is Emily Campbell. Congratulations, Emily! I’ll be sending you an email to get your mailing address.

  2. My favorite book is Igraine the Brave by Cornelia Funke because Igraine is brave like me. My other favorite book is Princess of the Wild Swans by Diane Zahler because Princess Meriel learns to be strong and brave.

*Note from Mom: When we weren’t reading Princess of the Wild Swans together, Grace was walking around the house with the book in her hand reading it whenever she’d stand still. She couldn’t wait to see how it ended.

  3. Ella Enchanted is without a doubt my favorite middle grade book. Over the years, during ups and downs, that’s the book I could always turn to. It’s also the book that reintroduced me to a love of reading as a tween, which has had a huge impact on how my life as a teen is playing out. And of course your books aren’t too bad, either (:

  4. My favorite book for middle age kids is The Thirteenth Princess written by none other than Diane Zahler. It is my favorite book because it pulled you into the story from the very first sentence until the very last word. I literally read it in one sitting. It made me wishing and wondering for more. Sometimes it is hard to find a good book but this one hit the jackpot! it was crammed full of fantasy and magic. It was jam-packed full of everything a girl like me would want to read about. It also made me really excited when your second, third, and now fourth books came out.

  5. One of my favorite books when I was in middle school would have to be The Fairy Rebel. It was such an imaginative story that opened my mind up to many more fun and fantastic stories.

  6. I didn’t learn to read until I was in 3rd grade. One day I found this book that I wanted to read, so I took it to my father and asked if he would read it to me. Every night he read a little bit but alas he never finished it. I was so curious to know the ending so I taught myself to read with this book. The book was “The Boxcar Children” by Gertrude Chandler Warner. This book will always hold a special place in my heart for that reason. After I taught myself to read I fell in love with books. Today, I have a daughter who has not always liked to read. I always tried to instill in her my love of reading and even read her “The Boxcar Children” but it wasn’t until we stumbled upon your book, “The Thirteenth Princess” that my daughter fell in love with reading. Now she loves reading and has read your other books many times. She will be turning 12 in November and I cannot think of a better present to get her then a book in which she has been patiently waiting for. Thanks you for writing books that has given my daughter her love of reading.

  7. My favorite book in middle school was probably The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis. Does that count?
